Falls Creek, Victoria

Born during the annual Falls Creek Artists Camp 2006, Wind Anomaly 2 is a site specific kinetic artwork created especially for the environment of Falls Creek and the High Plains of central north Victoria.

It materialised from ideas about the Alpine weather, the local geology, and cartography - especially the magnetic anomaly found at Mt Jim.

Wind Anomaly 2 is 6 metres tall. Made of 10mm steel plate, zinc coated and painted, and weighing 100 kilograms, it is anchored to the ground at four points - on 3 granite blocks and a central concrete footing. Brass details refer to the local basalt geometry.
